Thanks... Liver Shunt is a vein that bypasses the liver and allows the blood that is normally filtered and cleaned to be returned to the circulatory system full of nutrients and toxins picked up from the intestines.

A Bile Acid Test is the best way to determine how well the liver is functioning.

Some early symptoms are UTIs, picky eaters, lethargy, slow growth rate, difficulty handling anesthesia, elevated liver enzymes (basic bloodwork), to mention a few. Some dogs exhibit strange behavior or may seizure after eating a meal.
