I might not be of great assistance, as I free feed kibble, but I do feed them raw once to twice a day depending on their physical output. They usually eat best in the afternoon. I think free feeding kibble is great especially for those who have to leave the house or work outside the house. Mine will nibble on kibble during the day until it is "raw" time, and then they eat the whole portion that is given to them. I have yet to have a pup with weight issues.
I don't think my way is the only good method, it is just the one that is right for my pups. There are plenty of other methods out there, you just have to find the one that works best with your pups.
