The rule of thumb for salon (people/groomers) tipping is: yes you tip the 'hairdresser' UNLESS they are the actual salon owner - then no tip for the owner.
Now, I don't agree with that, but there are some people who are so fanatic about tipping rules they follow all the rules.
Personally, I must admit I don't tip that much but I feel I tip appropriately. I know my one daughter over tips...even for lousy (restaurant) service.
I know if a server (which would also equate to a hairdresser, groomer, etc) is rude, flip, or just can't do their job...they don't get any tip. Tips are optional, not obligatory, which I feel some people have forgotten it's a "reward" (if you will) for going above and beyond the job. It originally was given a pittance to the lowly servers who waited on royalty and were 'beneath' their station.
