I also use an in home sitter and find it is best for the dogs to be in their own surroundings. Another option is to look into a home boarding situation- where someone boards dogs in their home- if your yorkie is good with other small dogs it might help them to have something exciting to do if they have other dogs to play with- it will get their mind off of you being gone.
Also it might help to get your yorkie more used to you being gone for short periods of time first- like sending him for half days at doggy day care- it is always a good thing to build up your dogs confidence so they can be okay when you are away.
I did use rescue remedy once when I flew with my dog- It did help to calm him down a little so that might be an option for you.
