We've had trouble with this same thing, and now every time we go on vacation we pay someone to come dog-sit at our home. I think the familiar surroundings really helps. The dogs still act mopey and wait at the door for us to come home, but they eat normal and don't have the upset stomachs they tend to otherwise.
