I have started using the commands leave it and drop it while we walk twice a day. We walk in the street most of the time and it was easier to issue the commands there because there were not so many things for them to pick up. I would just say leave it and keep walking. Now after we walk I have let them walk in the yard while I still have them on the leash still telling them leave. I only let them in the yard for about 5 minutes the first time and have gradually started increasing the time. This seems to be working! I didn't even offer them any treats.Thanks for the great advice.
