On the subject of anesthesia safety.....
Make sure you get pre op bloodwork done. If the spay/neuter clinic doesn't do it, take Hope to your regular vet and get it done a week or two before. Bloodwork will tell your vet how Hope's organs are working and will alert him to anything that might cause a problem during anesthesia. Yorkies especially need pre op bloodwork since the breed is so prone to liver disease as anesthesia is processed through the liver.
Please read this stickie on Anesthesia protocol from our YT library and discuss what type of anesthesia will be used with the clinic before you schedule the appointment. Make sure the clinic is familiar with the special needs of toy breeds in regards to anesthesia.
