Is this a new addition to your home, or did Dudley grow up with you? Peeing on you and guests is called "submissive peeing." It can be a difficult behavior to stop, but it isn't hopeless.

Don't use the crate for punishment. Crates are supposed to safe places. Plus, he knows that he can bark his way out of it.

First thing is a wellness check with your vet. Second is a good schedule, a routine for activities: eating, sleeping, exercise, training. This is the foundation for giving a dog a sense of confidence and security. Does he get plenty of exercise and has he been socialized?

Working with a trainer would be ideal. If not, I recommend Victoria Stilwell's books and DVDs. You can also find her show, "It's Me or the Dog" online. There are many training exercises to combat the problem behavior that you are seeing.

You don't have to give up your life, but you will have to invest time and patience in training.
