I think you are reading between the lines and only hearing what you want to hear. I think I can get the breeder to keep her until 8 or 9 wks old. You think you can GET the breeder to keep her until 8 or 9 weeks? Ma'am you should be asking her (and yourself) why she is trying to place this pup at 7 weeks! That is when it gets expensive and a lot of work because mom is paying less attention - food, shots, cleaning up puppy messes, etc. That combined with maybe using wee wee pads until she can hold it 8hrs may be the best solution. That won't be for months, if ever! I just would like to be able to take the wee wee pads away at some point in time. | Would you leave a baby in a crib by itself all day with maybe a bottle or two, hoping it would figure out how to take care of itself? Maybe a puppy isn't exactly the same thing, but even a 12 week old yorkie puppy is too fragile to be left alone for hours on end, even in an x-pen. A crate would be down right cruel and I am shocked that you might think this is an option. Perhaps a yorkie is not the breed for you. I get it - they are cute, you and your kids are excited, but I would find it incredibly selfish of you to bring a 7 WEEK OLD PUPPY into this situation. Please, please, please do your research before you make this decision. No REPUTABLE and good breeder would EVER allow a YORKIE puppy to leave their home at 7 weeks. In fact, it is possible that it is illegal for her to allow her puppies to leave before 8 weeks. Your kids are too young to know the care and expense of taking care of a toy breed dog. Their only concern is how CUTE she is! I get it, I have a daughter who is just like them! I know I should apologize for ranting and perhaps you think I am being harsh, but I love this little breed - as do the majority of the posters here - and am passionate about ensuring their safety and security by educating potential owners such as yourself. I would hate for your next post to be in the sick and injured thread . . . which is the likely outcome if you follow through with this.
