If the throw rugs are old and not your favorites...turn them into "washable potty pads" - I realize that's going with the flow probably too much but pick up all the rugs...put one down by the door you eventually hope to train her to go out and let her have at it/wash/replace/rinse/repeat. Just an idea. But washable potty pads are fairly expensive and really not much different (???)
But you might not want to take my advice as it comes from someone who has multiple disposable potty pads located in strategic places throughout the house (during the winter) - summer time they use the dog door to their own "outhouse".
One of our dogs absolutely won't go (poo) anywhere but in the hallway (during winter) - we relented and put a potty pad there. Problem solved (for the carpet anyway). But we work during the day and potty pads are a must around our house.
