We have quite a few bears and now their cubs have learned that there is easy food here. Last year was the first year people figured out if they don't leave garbage cans out and remove fruit from their trees the bears start looking elsewhere. I think almost every garbage can has puncture bites on them. We even had a white 'black bear' - also known as a Kermodei or Spirit Bear - they are pretty rare compared. This is a picture of one; not the one that came into our town but close enough!
Our Great Pyrenees X had a good scare from a moose and her calf. They came onto our driveway, freaked out Zain and she got freaked out too and ended up falling down. She just stood in our yard for about 15 minutes quietly as Zain climbed into our hedge and hid. Beautiful moose and calf!
