Something similar happened to us one time also. We only have a cattleguard at our entrance and then there's acres of pasture before you get to the road. Tatum and the Aussies outside never go past that cattleguard.... BUT one time the cleaning lady let her out to potty and the best we can figure is that Tatum thought she heard the Gator driving around and assumed the girls (our daughters) were driving around in the pasture and she took off! The cleaning lady ran after her but never could catch her or find her. She turned up about a mile down and across the road sitting on a neighbor's porch. That neighbor had been out on her riding lawnmower mowing by her road. I'm thinking that's what Tatum heard. She had NEVER done anything like that before but it was right after the girls being home for the Summer and they had gone back to school that week - leaving poor Tatum a little lonely. Scared the you-know-what out of us for the couple hours that we searched! Tatum is very well trained to stay in the yard but still.... you have no idea what will set these little boogers off sometimes. I don't even want to think about the cars that could have been on the road while she was running down it. Thank God you had a good outcome with your baby!
