Going to management hmm yes but I'm skeptical it would be effectual in the long run...

I couldn't take going in and seeing dead and sick animals in the cages all the time...find a local pet or farm store that has been owned by someone for a couple years I'll bet serious money they know a lot more as their business survival depends on personal service, awareness and customer satisfaction...

one of the best advisers I've ever ran to in times of need is a local pet store owner (she also owns a pet boutique and is part owner in a dog day care grooming service parlor now) she has no formal training but after 30 years in the business I'd test her knowledge against any vet, trainer, behaviorist, groomer, etc. and she's free her business depends on her ability to keep up with the best and educate.

I'd remember this and not spend my hard earned dollar supporting a company who employs people like this...regularly, everywhere...
Where I live there is only 1 locally owned pet store and they are nastier then any of the major pet stores around here(and not very helpful/knowledgeable) and treat the animals they have like crap. We went to look at ferrets once and they had them outside in wire cages in like 90 degree weather which is heat stroke weather for a ferret. That's also the type of cages they put whatever dogs/cats/rabbits they have at the time in. Our petsmart only sells birds, fish, and hamsters. I've never ran into anything dead there. But I'd much rather go to Petsmart then I would the locally owned one here.

Anywho...we don't have a Petco here, but I have taken Silver to puppy class at Petsmart and our trainer never argued with us about using a harness so maybe that trainer just didn't want to admit she was wrong or she just didn't care. Either way shame on her.

After being on this forum everyone I know that has dogs I have informed them to not use a collar but to use a harness no matter what type of dog it is.
