One of the other posters said it sits high on thier foot, kind of like a thumb I think. And it might get caught on stuff. I don't think they serve any purpose, I've just heard and read that you are supposed to have them removed when they have their tales docked. Maybe it's a matter of personal preference. I think I'm going to go ahead and have my pups docked and de-dew clawed
