I have an 11 week old - Kody. I started training him going outside as soon as we got him. It's really hard. They have go often, you just need to stay on top of it. I take Kody out about every 1-2 hours. He isn't old enough to give me a sign yet, (i.e. go to front door, bark, whimper, cry, etc.). So in the case I take when I feel he has to go. Once we are outside I say "potty" and he knows what mean. He will always pee and then if I know he has to poop, I keep saying "potty" until he poops. If he doesn't poop, will bring him back the house and put him in his crate and try again about 1/2 hr. later. I have had many accident in my house, most recently yesterday where he pee'd on the carpet a couple times and then pooped on the carpet. I immediately took him outside and then brought him back to his crate. He knew he was wrong.

It takes a lot of time and patience with these little guys. I'm still learning.

With the brand new house, you need to gate him in to a specific area like the kitchen where there is no carpet and a easy clean-up. Don't give him free range of the house - you have to have 10 eyes on him at all times if you do.
