Post Buddy

Hello. Was browsing around the net looking for info on Yorkies and found your forum. My wife and I are proud new owners of a Yorkie. We don't know all the details on him as he is a rescue dog. It's funny how fate has a way of stepping in and changing your life.

I've wanted a Yorkie ever since I saw one years ago. He was so much fun and very attentive even though he didn't know me from Adam. My wife wanted to get me one for my birthday this year, but she was hoping to adopt one a few years old. That's how we've done all our dogs in the past. So she went to the local dog shelter and they put our name on a list. Exactly 2 days later we get a call. An adoption agency took in a Yorkie from a 20 year old girl who wanted to be Paris Hilton. Thing is, she didn't know she had to feed and raise him too. ;-)

We got him last Saturday and it's been a nice adjustment for him and us. He sleeps with us, works with us, plays with us and rides with us. We decided to name him Buddy since I kept saying: "Come here Buddy". It stuck. He seems to be potty trained, but not much more than that. We take him next week for all his basic shots, checkup and neutering. He's such a welcomed part of our emtynesting family.

One thing we have to work on is his barking. For no reason he'll walk in the room and bark. We have determined from reading on line his high pitched bark means he wants attention. Is this right? Any suggestions to break him of it or temper it anyway?

Other than that, we love this little boy. I'll know more about his age, weight etc next week once we return from the vet. He's such a treat!

Now I look forward to reading some of your posts and pictures!

Thanks, Ron
