Chris, I have a male he's 1 yr. and 3 months his name is Artie. My 8 wk. old females name is Abigail. I've only had her for a week today.
When we went to the Breeder to pick her out, we took Artie, he played with the Mother, all the puppies (3) and an older 8 yr. old male. We stayed for an hour talking and playing, the female we chose was the one that kept playing with him. So when we came back a few days later Artie was already familiar with their home.
The first night and day they went through their own power struggle.
I did not get involved I let them work it out themselves on their own time table, but I did give my older male "Private space" so when he wanted to have his own space he could get away from her. I did not force him to be with her when he didn't feel like it. I made him responsible for her I trained him to watch her so now they follow each other around they play until they are tired and then they sleep together. If they are ever going to mate or even live in the same home they have to get along! I think they will come around in time.
You just have to watch, wait and see? Otherwise I suggest you get them neutered and spayed? And just have them there in their own separate spaces....it sounds territoial to me. Good Luck trying
