congrats on your new upcoming addition...a week after having her I will wait for you to post...this dog so owns me they tend to wiggle their way into our hearts like no other.

When my sister got her maltese and was concerned about puppy safety and had carpeting everywhere.

She got an xpen and then under it my brother in law went to the home improvement store and put a sheet of vinyl flooring to put under it.

since she will grow it will be very very hard to resist all the cute sweaters and such but waiting until you know about how big she'll stay ..will save you a lot...lol

my binky was pretty easy to potty pad train since I carried her everywhere and when i Put her down I put her on the pad.

It started off the weirdest way I'd have to put her down to use the facilities myself and she'd piddle..so it became a habit to put a pad down then put her on it and she'd go when I did....I'd make a huge fuss and give a bit of treat.

she caught on pretty quickly

My daughters pom actually adopted my system my daughter thought was nuts but she went on my floor all the time and she left her in my care one weekend.

when she did it ...in a very soft voice I told her she broke my heart making on grandmas floor...pretended to cry and to this day that little pom runs into my house the first thing she does is use the potty pad and ask for a treat..
