After reading your previous posts about making your own potty trays I decided to try as well to see if Ziva would use it before investing in one. (Ziva "goes" outside, except after dark, or rainy days or, well if my DH is being lazy!)then she goes on newspaper in the garage, which again my DH loves seeing me clean up, rather then letting Ziva outside...So I tried the grid but she would not step up on it so I took a cover to a plastic storage tote and popped the newspaper inside- perfect! no more leaks on the floor and just enough "bulge" to the center that a big puddle will run off to the edges and her feet don't get wet. I know with the grid I wouldn't have this problem- but not willing to mess with what works.Anyway before Ziva(aka Pee Puddle) was outside trained we had two potty spots in the house. We had to cut to one and than cold turkey to none. I cleaned the floor with commercial floor cleaner (scrubbing the tile grout)Enzyme treated and than blocked off with a large tote. Then watched her closely when she went near and redirected her to the remaining pad (ultimately outside)She was a full year before she could make it to the other side of the house reliably. |
