I am so sorry you are sad. I do admire you for the love you had for your little guy.
Some dogs are great by themselves while owners work..(my lasa was happiest when he was the one and only guy in the house)...with some research and advise from dog lovers you could find that breed.

Also, I have read many places and belive that you should have more than one pet. It does not mean two yorkies, but maybe a cat - dog or I have even read a hamster (what do you think?). Saying that.. we have had a several pets over the past ten years, dog with cats, dogs with dog, more dogs --sad to say lost cats, and so on. It has worked out well and the love we get from the pets is so much and more. Also, the lessons my children have learned from having pets is even more.
