I would like to add that local SPCAs are not the same as the ASPCA. The ASPCA is based in NYC and has a national reach. Local SPCAs are not affilated with them and are much like your local Humane Society not being affiliated with HSUS.

No doubt these groups do 'some' good. The question is...how much good should nearly $200 million (between them) annually do? It's my belief that most of their donations come from people thinking that they are helping companion animals. Just look at their ads on TV and other media soliciting donations. What other assumption could one reasonably make? In my mind, it's a breach of trust on the highest order. We should see much better results for the amount of money these 2 groups get.
