I know this might sound weird, but you have to learn to talk to some people or they will run all over you. I learned this the hard way, really hard. Now I'm in control of what I want to be control of and let other things just blow right by me. In your case, if my mother in law would have said that to me, I would have said, you really need to check with me next time, I could have had another appointment after, and then Mollie would have been stuck with you all day! Something like that. Sometimes you turn it around right on them. I know to some people they might disagree, but I was run over for years until I learned this.
