My issue was whining with Maggie. OMG, was she ever a whiner. She still will whine from time to time but no where near what she used to.

I did clicker training with her in class so with that in my case it was easier to "train" her not to whine. Since she seemed to whine from the moment she heard me get up until I picked her up, it was easy for me to get her to understand that she got a click and reward for being quiet.

I realize that barking and whining are not the same, but the concept is the same...quiet gets rewarded and they need to know that there is a difference between quiet and the noisy thing of either barking or whining.
