I called the local ER vet when Lucy ate chocolate. We knew that three pieces had been eaten. He asked how many ounces each piece was; then how many ounces were in the entire bag.

There is some formula they use - but he was able to calculate that Lucy would have had to eaten a third of this particular bag to be toxic. Anthother thing that reassured him was that she had already thrown up.

My point is - call an ER vet; they will help you over the phone IF they don't feel you need to come in. If they do have concerns - they may want you to come in.

It wil be worth it. As you know, chocolate is toxic to dogs. I wouldn't wait to make that call.
