 Need Help and/or Advice
Hello, I am new and just stumbled across this great site by accident.
I recently heard of a puppymill owner that was aware she was going to be busted by animal control so she just started selling off her dogs for $50 each. I was only able to get a yorkie, although I tried to get more before the other millers rushed in.
This little yorkie is supposed to be 3yrs old and she is most likely pregnant now. I noticed when I first got her that she was a little unsteady but I had chalked it up to her atrophied back legs from being stuck in a little cage her whole life. But even after almost 2weeks of care her balance is still off. I notice that she kinda wobbles when she first wakes up and sometimes she acts like she just doesn't even see me. I have a vet appointment but its not for another two weeks because they wanted her to gain some weight last time. She is gaining weight now but she refused to eat at first. We had to mix in people food before she would touch it. This dog was in truely horrible shape coming to me. Her eyes were so badly matted they bled. Her hair was so greasy and gross that if you picked it up it would stay! Nails curling under. Teeth a mess. Hernia in her thigh/abdomen area. She is already doing better but this off balance thing is really starting to scare me. I want to help her, I just don't know how. I don't know what it could be. I have never even owned a small dog so I don't know what they are prone to or what illnesses I should be looking out for either. Can anyone dole out some suggestions or maybe someone knows what could be wrong with her? |
