You know your dogs then any other person. I think you ought to go with your heart on this one. If you think they would be better off being dog sat during the party and know they are safe and well cared for, then do it. If you have any doubts in your decision then perhaps something else could be looked into.
If you have and family members that you trust , perhaps they could go there for a visit?
I feel for you. My Suzi is a problem when company comes over. She gets way too excited and jumps all over everybody. I have to place her in the bedroom , because she is way too overwhelming.
You are NOT a bad mom either! Your looking after their best interests. That makes you a wonderful , caring, doggie parent.
