I prefer to wait a little longer- I didn't have my female spayed until 10 months old. I like to give them as much opportunity to grow and mature as possible. I also like to give their puppy teeth a chance to come out on their own before pulling them during the spay. By 8-10 months you can be pretty sure that they aren't coming out on their own and are going to need some help if there are any left.
