I wouldn't have a problem keeping him in a spare room, but I don't want to risk him having an accident in the house. I take him to potty often, but when I leave he sometimes has accidents. He doesn't go on potty pads either. |
I adopted a 5 yr old Pom and she is 100% housetrained & crate trained. I don't know her history but I will not put her in a crate. I have her gated in a spare room when I'm at work. She shredded the pee pad I had put down for her just in case. As a precaution to accidents I put a shower curtain liner down. It covers most of the floor and every once in a while I will see that she has peed on it. I just clean it up and never say a word about it. My Yorkie on the other hand will use pee pads as well as going out. I love shower cutain liners. I get them at the dollar store. Just try to be consistent with your dog and in time a regular routine will be a breeze.
