Everybody who has replyed has had some real nice tips but one other thought, though this doesn't sound like it applies to you right now, like Lil Sis said "just like a baby who falls and looks around to see if anyone is watching before he cries.. a lot of behavior is learned from how we react"

OR it's a show for sympathy/attention. Now as I said, yours doesn't sound like that but Sprocket will sometimes when we are out and about will take and have the "shivers" you know the ears tremble, pitiful looks, poor baby, etc. and what does he get? OH poor baby, he's cold, he's afraid, etc., he gets attention. The ladies just melt and he sucks it up, oh he works it really well, little poop, they try to be nice and he acts afraid. I know it's an act because as Wabbit noted working on the social skills of an acceptable dog/owner is important. And we sure worked hard on those ones, maybe to hard on the social-ness of the skills? LOL. Anyway, good luck, with your love/support Teddi will get better and he will be the independent social being with others that he is with you.
