Usually a "pee string," a little bit of hair on the penis directs the urine downward, away from the belly. I trim a little of the hair in front of the penis, upward toward the chest.
If the sides of the coat are dragging through urine on the grid, the only options are to band the hair, like a show dog in wraps, or wash daily.
