Congrats on the soon-to-be new addition!
Good advice so far. I second having nutrical, although I've never had to use it. But it's good to have on hand.
Potty training can be hard. Don't set high expectations for a good while. Be sure to be patient and consistent.
I suggest that before you get your puppy you should try to decide what method(s) you are going to use. Are you going to train him to go on a puppy pad or outside? Are you going to crate train the puppy? I use crate training and I'm a huge fan of it. You can do a search or post again and I can give some advice.
If you try to make some of these decisions ahead of time, it might help ease the transition for not only the puppy, but for you too. And don't worry if something doesn't work. Some things are just trial by error!
Mainly just expect the unexpected! Some puppies are sluggish and apprehensive at first and others are full of energy and act crazy!
Have a few good fun toys, and maybe a shirt or something with your scent on it for when you are away (especially if you crate train).
Good luck!
