I have to say as someone who works in a nursing home dementia patents are among the hardest to care for and normally have the most demanding families.
I had a lady swing at me because her moms lunch was 10 min late, we had to call a ambulance for another resident so all hallway activity was stopped.
In my facility we would never not give medication because it would be cheaper or put adult diapers on a resident who did not need them.
All of you that have elderly parents/family in a nursing home If you have a problem and need to yell at someone ask for a nurse. The people running around and giving meds and food are normally STNAs (like me) and have no say in what is going on if they do not do as they are told they will get fired in a heartbeat.
also if you have the choice try and find a home that accepts pets mine just started doing this and it is soo nice we have 2 cats 3 birds and a cute little shih tzu the pets make all the residents more at ease. (and now I can bring Gatsby to work 2 days a week)
