One thing I want to point out that sometimes gets overlooked is this..pain meds for your dog will have one of the same side effects it does on humans.major constipation problems. Do not be surprised if you have to use a suppository or puppy enema or something. It is hard to use laxatives or stimulants such as fiber, like canned pumpkin, as it will not work just once and stop. The baby can have multiple BM's and really cause problems with keeping the surgical site and cast clean. Talk with your vet about treatment for this or better still, how to prevent it..
Your baby is probably going to do a lot better than you think. Did your vet do pre-op blood work??
