My girlfriend just finished with this on one of her Yorkies and he will have to have the other leg done in a few weeks. She has 5 dogs so she setup a special area for Futu inside an excercise pen so none of the other dogs would try to sleep with him. She put blankets down, a low volume heating pad and his little bed. She took him outside every few hours so he could go the bathroom without the other dogs around. The best he could do the first week was piddle. Do not be surprised if you little one makes messes but the pain medicine really puts them under and this is good. Sleep and no activity is what you want. Futu's leg was in the cast for about 2 months so it was difficult but now he is walking on his one leg without pain. We all dread having to do the other leg but in the long run it will be better for him. You really will need to follow the vets advise so I am sure he can give you some great suggestions.
Good Luck and we will be thinking of you.
