I don't think there are any puppies born with long hair. I thought it a pretty odd question for a VET to ask! Surely any VET would know that no puppy is born with long hair.
Would make be pretty leery about any advice the guy would try to dispense.
I do remember being surprised when I found out what yorkie puppies were supposed to look like. It was the color, not the length of hair that surprised me though. Still, I am sure there were plenty of things that I did not know that a breeder would have thought basics. Everyone is different.
