Yes, it does make sense. It is a 'Sulfa' drug... different type of antibiotic than Amoxi. From 'E How':

Albon is approved for the treatment of infections caused by organisms that include Staphylococcus, Escherichia and Salmonella. Among the infections it treats are respiratory infections including tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia; skin infections; anal gland infections; skin wounds; urinary tract infections; and infections in the uterus.

If the Albon doesn't clear it, maybe a throat culture & sensitivity and xray (to rule out CT) and bloodwork would be the way to go, as coughing can come from a number of causes. A video is not a bad idea either....

When did he begin coughing... had he been around other dogs or get any vaccinations close to that time? How long has he been coughing? Does he cough more at any specific times, like after eating or drinking, when he's barking and excited, after/during strenuous exercise, at rest, or at play?
