LOL, Boys will be boys. Be patient, and consistent. Consistency is what works for them. He'll get it. Personally, I like to catch them in the act, like you did, and take them to the pad. For me, catching them and moving them over to the pad seems to click with them. So even though it doesn't feel like progress, it is.
The puppy pee stories are funny. It lets you know you are not alone..we've all been there. My full grown Moka, my angel, peed on my brand new sofa when the neighbor girl came over to give her a potty break when we took a day trip. Once outside, the girl wanted to bond with her, so she picked her up, and Moka peed all over her. That was our first attempt with a petsitter. LOL. She's the dog that is the most dependable I've ever had in the house too. I think this girl just moved too fast for Moka to feel comfortable with even though she came over previously. LOL, she was all good about it though.
