Apparently woman can be reluctant to leave an abusive situation, because they are concerned about how their pets will be treated. As all woman shelters can't take in the woman and the pet an organization run and manned by vets was created to temporarily shelter these pets, under the woman finds a permanent home. Some men threaten the dog/cat "if" the woman leaves.
Just thought I'd put that out there, I had absolutely no idea such an organization existed.
This is a wonderful option for woman who need to use it. |
What a great idea. I did learn at a child advocacy conference that pets are one of the top reasons why women will not leave an abusive situation. So sad.
