She's shaved 2 a year, in the summer, and in the winter, when its time for her shaving she needs to be brushed, but she doesn't matt, just her coat is more beautiful if she's brushed, she has a silky coat 
Mardelin, would you reccomand anyone having theyr yorkie with long coat?
Have you had a yorkie with long cotton coat, and how was it? was it very much work or what ?
Im willing to give my yorkie boy all the brushing and combing he needs to be with beautiful long coat. |
I'll tell you what a very wise member told me. Keeping a yorkie in a long coat is more for the human than for the dog. I tried having the longer coat, I got as far as 2 inches of coat. It's like a lion's hair. It sticks up and just doesn't lay flat, which makes them look fat (even if it's all hair.
) It took me longer to brush out, which eventually got on Kaji's nerves and he would walk away when I was only 1/4 of the way through. It takes forever to dry with the blow dryer because there is so much hair, and I won't let him run off half dry and half tangled. You should see him squirm when he is getting dried off. That caused matts since his hair was wet and heavy and he wouldn't let me finish brushing him off. He was just plain unhappy. I gave in, cut off the body hair, and now I have a happy camper.
