I don't know who may have told you to use a collar with a yorkie, but you shouldn't ever use a collar for walking purposes with a yorkie. This breed is susceptible to collapsed trachea, and the use of a collar can apply too much pressure on their trachea. You're much safer to use a harness, then no pressure is on their neck region. I like Buddy Belt, Choke-free and Puppia style harnesses the best.
