I have never had any of my babies give birth and am totally lost. I don't have kids myself so I cannot even relate. Puppy seems to be nursing, but is more vocal than I expected. Every time Julie moves he whines. Is her panting normal and do newborns whine frequently if the mom moves? |
Panting is normal during the first few days after whelp; due to hormonal changes within her body.
Other's have given great advice.
Calcium supplements may or not be given, but usually not necessary with a litter of one, but always advisable with a litter of 3 or more.
I would suggest keeping Oral Cal Plus on hand in case of an emergency animalrevival.com.....that is if eclampsia should manifest itself in your girl.
There are a couple of whelping recipes, posted as stickies at the top of the breeder forum.
A pup usually will only whine when it is chilled. More than likely that is why your pup cries when mom moves.
