The vet prescribed medication, but did he/she give you a diagnosis, explain the reason for the meds, and suggestions for follow up?
I don't have any experience with these meds or Jack's symptoms, but if CT is a possibility, or allergies, seems to me that more tests should be done to either rule things out or diagnose definitively.
I would be nervous giving meds without a definite course of action. Call your vet and ask for more information.
