Sorry Peanut was treated so horribly! I have no idea why people like that go into a business where they are going to be handling people's pets. It is traumatic enough for our pups to go to a groomer without them treating them badly.
I have tried most of the groomers in our town. For a small town we have many. W have a small grooming school here so I think that has a lot to do with it. I had one lady treat my pups like your experience but she groomed well. It didn't matter, I won't go back. I thought of her as soon as I read how that groomer held your Peanut out away from her. That is how the groomer here handed my Ben back to me -- one-handed and never brought him close to her at all. He was sort of thrashing around when holding him more securely could have calmed him. I have also gone to another where they made me feel good about leaving him, only to return to a terrible grooming job. But.....I am lucky as we do have one really fantastic groomer nearby that takes special care with them, making them comfortable and also does a beautiful job with the grooming. I just wish she didn't require us to leave the pups so long. They all must be dropped off first thing in the morning as she has a shampooer come in early. Then she grooms them one by one and it is often late in the afternoon before I get them back. It is worth it though to know they are shown some love while they are going through their ordeal.
The best deal I had was a mobile grooming lady that came to the house. She was a little bit of a thing and as sweet as could be with my pups. You could tell she loved animals. She also did a beautiful job of grooming and charged no more than what I was paying at the shops. She said she had no overhead, so why charge more. I loved that as all of the other mobile groomers around here seem to charge twice what the shops do -- makes no sense! Unfortunately my great mobile grooming lady moved to CO or AZ, can't remember which. Someone out that way will have a great groomer tho. |
