I'm confused. Are you now saying that fireworks caused the Great Fire?
I do have very fond memories of block parties when I was little and people got to buy and set off their own fireworks. Sparklers were always fun. But having come back from a magnificent display of SF fireworks for New Year's, I feel good about the tradeoff of freedom to set your own fireworks versus children with no fingers. I understand in Alaska, most of you probably don't even know what opposable thumbs are, so you don't miss them when they are gone.
