Yes....as Salazark said....giving a few treats as you're leaving works wonders. You always want to pair a "negative" event, like leaving, with a "positive", like giving a few treats. It will help with grooming issues too. You can get some soft training treats, break them into "tiny" pieces and give while they are learning to tolerate something new being done to them...teeth brushing, nail trimming, etc. Another thing that works well is a kong. It's a rubber toy that you can slip a treat into and the dog has to try and figure out how to get it out. After he eats his treats you've sprinkled on the floor (and after you've left your apartment) he will then turn to the kong to try and get the treat out. This will keep his little terrier brain busy for a good while after your gone. He won't be thinking of you. Also, leave on the radio or t.v. set. so it's not deadly quiet in the home.
