[mom of 3 dogs]

i've had birds for over 20 years. i would much rather get a bird from someone who breeds them rather than a petsmart. i once had a fisher lovebird, someone gave it to me. was an older bird, not tame at all. right now besides my 3 dogs i have one very old cockateil ( she's 21), a young cockateil ( he's 1 1/2) and an african grey parrot ( she is around 20 ) i've had them all since they were babies. i love them all so much. the old teil is very sweet, and the young one i have is actually talking. i think that is the best time to get them, but i'm sure the right older bird would be a good pet too. good luck, i hope you find the bird you are looking for
