My guess is that she did not have breeding rights and therefore isn't allowed to register. Many breeders will tell pet buyers that the cost is so high, but the truth is the cost is just administrative fees for registration, and as Rhetts_mama mentioned only $25.00 a litter, and $2.00 a puppy. She is then issued a number, and you would pay an additional $20.00 to register the puppy in your name. However, if she had no breeding rights, no amount of money will help register the dogs with the AKC. Other registries will take her money, but that's why other registries are worthless. AKC papers tell pet owners that their breeders did not steal breeding rights from someone.
