I know this maybe a stupid question, but i am a new dog owner and have no idea how all of this work.... i got my puppy from a friend, she is not a breeder and wasnt planning on the puppies... they just happened... my baby is a pure breed Yorkie... she is now 8 weeks old...

I keep reading about puppies being AKC registered, how does that work? how can i get my baby registered? do i have to register her even if i am not planning to breed her?
