Nine week-old is very young and keeping him penned in the kitchen is a great idea
But having full roam of the house at that age might not be such a good one
First of all at that age they have no control over their elimination so they will poop and pee whenever and wherever they need
Second is that little pups will always want to be with you and can get into trouble quicker than you can imagine
You don't need to keep him in the kitchen all the time but when he's with you just confine him to the room you're in
