Also I would recommend an X-pen set up in a room where he can see someone all day. Kitchen,Dining room or living room would be the best place for the X-pen. You need to look at the potty situation like this, if you had a 10 month old human baby would you expect it to know where the toilet was or how to use it ? He needs to be shown where it is several times per hour & when he uses it , praise him. Never scold him as it will only make him fear you & make the house training much harder. Also keep him in one area of the house , not have the run of the whole house. After he gets the clue as to where it is & how to use the potty pad you can gradually give him more run of the house.
